Join McPufferson and your friends in GoNoodle’s new, free Hide and Seek game on Roblox. He’ll lead you through three different Champiverse worlds: Squatchy’s Forest, Súper Rufus’ Park, and Om Petalhead’s Magical Garden - where you can play Classic, Team, or Capture The Flag.

What age is GoNoodle’s Hide and Seek game for?

GoNoodle’s Hide and Seek Roblox game targets the core GoNoodle audience in the 6-9 age range.

    What is Roblox?

Roblox is an online gaming platform where kids can play games designed by other users and create and share their own games using Roblox’s game-developer tool, Roblox Studio. Roblox is free, and once signed up, users can play an infinite number of games, build and share creations, and chat with other users.

    How much does Roblox cost?

Roblox uses a freemium/premium model. You can play GoNoodle Hide and Seek for free and use Robux to buy fun upgrades within the game. Available upgrades include:
    • Special hiding powers - transform your size, become an object, or become invisible for a short time to avoid capture.
    • Movement powers - get faster or jump higher to get out of the way or dodge other players.
    • Extra ‘lives’ - get extra lives to remain in the game longer if you’re caught.
    • Seeking powers - as the seeker, get warned when there are hiders near you.
Robux can be purchased directly or Roblox offers three subscription levels in its Roblox Premium membership, which includes a Robux allowance:
    • $4.99 per month includes 450 Robux
    • $9.99 per month includes 1,000 Robux
    • $19.99 per month includes 2,200 Robux

    What are Robux?

Robux are Roblox's in-game currency. There are different ways to get Robux: You can buy them, get them as part of Premium membership, trade for them, or have someone donate them to you.

Are there parental controls around Robux?

You can track purchases and password protect your credit cards within your systems, so no unanticipated purchases are made.
The GoNoodle Hide and Seek game will work fine without additional content, but unlocking specific upgrades can be rewarded for winning a hide-and-seek game or purchased in the next game.

Are children able to chat with others in the GoNoodle Hide and Seek game, and is it safe?

    • Parents always have primary controls on chat through Roblox.
    • We do offer the chat function in our game, with the intent to make it available to parents who believe it to be a positive, skill-building experience for their child.
    • Roblox encourages users to interact through its Chat & Party function. Chatting in accounts of kids under 13 is more heavily filtered and moderated by Roblox and controlled through parental settings. Roblox also employs human monitors who keep an eye out for inappropriate language and content. If your child is fairly new to writing/typing, the chat could become frustrating, so it might be smart to start with chat disabled if your child is new to Roblox.

What safety measures are being taken to protect children in the GoNoodle Hide and Seek game on Roblox?

    • When children register for Roblox, their account is automatically set to "Privacy Mode." This means that children users will not have access to certain features, such as social media plug-ins, some forms of third-party advertising, and certain types of notification alerts.
    • The best way to mitigate any risks or concerns in your family is to play the game together and keep devices and consoles in shared family spaces.
    • More information can be found in the Roblox Terms and Conditions.

Can my child play GoNoodle Hide and Seek with only people they know instead of strangers?

This is possible with Roblox's private server feature, which is enabled for GoNoodle Hide and Seek.

How do I create a private server?

    1. Click on the Servers tab on the game's details page.
    2. If this feature has been turned on, you will see a section entitled Private Servers. It will display any servers that you have created or are a part of. If you see any, you can go ahead and play right away!
    3. To create a new one, click the Create Private Server button.
    4. Give your new server a name. Read the subscription agreement. Once you have read over all of the information on the box and chosen the perfect name, you can finish the purchase by clicking Buy Now.
    5. Once you've purchased, you will be able to configure the server right away or later.

How do I configure my server?

    • From the purchase notification window or by selecting Configure from the Menu button (looks like three dots) for the server on the Servers tab, you can get to the configuration page.
    • You can rename the server, adjust who can play in it including up to 50 individual users or allowing your friends list, and even create a link to your server.
    • You can also turn access to the server on and off as well as cancel your subscription for the server.

Are there parental controls for Roblox?

Roblox offers account controls to let parents restrict how kids can interact on the site and the types of games they can play. Parental controls can be activated to enable strict chat filters, block inappropriate words and phrases, and use a function called ‘Age Visibility’ to determine settings for kids that are age-appropriate.
To enable these settings, you add your email address to your kid's account and create a PIN that prevents kids from changing the settings back. The account controls are optional; kids of any age can create an account on Roblox with no parental restrictions. On accounts of kids under 13, Roblox automatically defaults to stricter settings, but a kid could change these if there's no parent PIN.

How do parents monitor their kids’ accounts?

Roblox has several ways to monitor account activity. While logged in, you can view the following histories from their related sections:
    • Direct and small group chat (Chat & Party feature found in the lower right corner of the apps). There you can see individual chat histories. This feature is limited to Friends and Friends of Friends.
    • Private message history (Messages)
    • Friends and Followers (Friends)
    • Virtual item purchase and trade history (My Transactions)
    • Creations such as games, items, sounds, ads…etc. (Create)
    • Recently played games (Home, Keep Playing, or My Recent)

How do you restrict online interactions?

It is simple to restrict your child’s interactions with others within Roblox on the settings for your kid’s account:
    • Log in to roblox.com
    • Click the Gear icon in the top right
    • Select Settings then Privacy
    • Restrict interactions via Content Settings and Other Settings
    • You should note that this doesn’t disable friend requests in Roblox. Therefore, it’s important to check in on the Friend Requests page on the website to ensure strangers are not being accepted.

Should I be concerned with my child’s access to other games, such as user-generated content?

Roblox itself does filter and check the games that are being created both for inappropriate images and profanity. However, games are still allowed that can have horror, murder, or bloody themes.

If you are looking to avoid these games as your child explores the Roblox world, the best solution is to specify the Account Restrictions setting in the linked Roblox account. This limits the playable games to those selected by Roblox itself. Although, do note that setting a child’s age as under 13 doesn’t limit the games they can access.

Are sexual predators a big problem on Roblox?

As there are on every extremely popular social network, there are predators on Roblox. Predators take advantage of Roblox's easily accessible chat to target their victims. Roblox uses human monitors and technology to weed out the bad guys, but there is still the possibility they might pop up.

To avoid being contacted by someone you don’t know, parents should enable the most restrictive contact settings. You can prevent anyone from contacting your kiddo by turning off chat entirely or limiting interactions to only friends.

We recommend coaching your kids to not chat with people they don't know, not to accept private messages (PMs) from strangers, and to talk to you about any weird interactions on Roblox or anywhere online. Make sure they know never to give away personal information, trust their instincts if someone makes them uncomfortable, never move a conversation to a different platform (a telltale predator red flag), and never agree to meet someone in the real world.
